Why the Sharpie ink does not dissolve in alcohol and water?

I did a lab with different substances chromatograhy, one of the Sharpie ink. I noticed that the ink is not separated into its various parts and found that alcohol as a solvent friction only separate you. Can anyone explain why the alcohol works, but not water?

Alcohol can be classified as an organic solvent, while water is classified as an aqueous solvent. Alcohol (ethanol if any) has features that allow you to dissolve organic substances, whose molecules, with pen and ink, so the water would just break the mood watery.
