scrapbooks 9 scrapbooks

As adults, when we think of scrapbooks, we immediately think of photographs. When we look online, we find albums filled with photographs. Of course many of the layouts we see are filled with embellishment but the central focus is the photographs.

Kids and teens also enjoy scrapbooking. Scrapbooks do not have to be photographs. Here are several ideas for both kids and teens:

o Lyrics to songs

o Photos from magazines

o Postcards

o Greeting cards

o Collector cards

o Classmate photos from school

o School reports

o Photos off the web of a favorite television star or musician

o CD covers

Kids and teens enjoy collecting all types of things that can be put into scrapbooks. Older kids of course can use all of your scrapbooking supplies. You might be amazed at the creativity teens show through scrapbooking.

Young children often do better with very small scrapbooks, and your scrap paper. They can glue it, cut it and add it to their treasures.

For the older kids, you may want to consider copying whatever they wish to scrapbook onto acid free and lignin free paper so that it does not turn yellow and crack.

Kids and teens both love stickers. We have always watched for sales on stickers. Over the years we have bought more than our fair share of stickers. For very young children, I don't think it's necessary to worry about the stickers being acid free. I have from time to time found stickers that come 1000 to a box. I've bought those and had the younger kids use them in their scrapbooks.

One of my daughters actually created a wonderful album of all of her stickers. It came out beautiful. The pages were nothing but stickers.

Another idea for kids making scrapbooks is to use homemade albums versus the store bought albums. Start with a piece of colored cardstock for the cover. Punch three holes in the side of the cardstock and then add pages. You can either use white cardstock as your base, or full sheets of scrapbook paper. Punch holes in each page. Use ribbon through the holes to tie it all together. Not only do the kids love these scrapbooks but they can make wonderful handmade gifts to give to others.

It really is possible to scrapbook at almost any age, and with almost anything as your focal point. Next time the kids say "I'm bored" suggest they create a scrapbook.

Scrapbooking, I'm a rookie...is a memory album the same as a scrapbook?

This may sound stupid but, are memory albums the same as scrapbooks? I thought scrapbooks had a paper page, not a plastic sheet protector. My Mom bought me a bunch of scrapbooking supplies for Christmas & included 3 memory albums. She got them from Hobby Lobby. They are expandable post bound pages, they are acid, lignin & PVC free and they each have 10 clear sheet protectors. I was just wondering because they're not "called" scrapbooks. Plus, they were fairly inexpensive & I've seen that scrapbooks are pretty pricey. I've never done ANY scrapbooking & I'd appreciate any tips anyone can offer! Like, can I print my own pictures or should I order reprints? Yeah, obviously I'm a rookie...

Thanks for any advice!
j

Yes, they are the same, the plastic sheet protectors are for protecting the pictures. Scrap-booking can be overwhelming, so take your time.

Set up a place, preferably a table that is out of the way and can be left there till you are finished. This sounds strange, but if it is there and ready to go, you will get more done in less time.

Now get organized. Have everything you need within your grasp so that you can really get going. That includes your photos. Get them organized as well, however you like, by date, or by birthday, vacation, whatever. Throw away any blurred or just plain "bad" photos as they detract from the album. Also, give away duplicates as they will confuse you. You will begin to wonder whether or not you have used them.

Also, if possible, make a photo disc of all your photos. That way if you need one you can get it easily printed in no time at all. They are also safe, no lost negatives. Then, just toss the negatives.

Now use large white paper or your album pages to create a layout usually not more than 3 or 4 photos per page. Lay out each page till you have all the photos you want grouped together for the event. Keep doing this till you have used all the pages, this will save you much time. Then just start putting them together!

However, if you have many photos of the same function, but different poses or scenery, and you would like to use them, cut them down. There are many different types of scissors and cutting tools at you local craft store.

You can have the people cut out and place them in layers on the page. I did this when my daughters photo was great but the background was not so great. I just cut her out, and placed her on another photo for the background!

There is really no right or wrong way to do it, but remember, keep your embellishments to a minimum. It is easier on the eye, and the pocket book! Just do specialty pages every once in a while for special photos. Plus, it will take less time. You will be able to do at lest a couple of pages a day this way and your album will be finished in no time at all.

My daughters album is great but hard to look at because it is overwheming to the eye. I did many colorful layouts with lots of embelshiments, it took a full year to complete. That is why it helps to keep embellishments to a minimum.

Oh by the way, be sure to use an archival quality pen to journal with. That way it won't turn wierd colors and ruin your hard work. Journaling is a great way to preserve your memories and to share them as well.

Scrapbooking is fun and great to share with others, there are many scrapbooking classes to join. This helps you learn many different styles and about new tools and tricks to creating great albums.

Well, hope this helps, good luck with your new adventure!

I need quotes for wedding scrapbook?

I am making a photobook online with my wedding pics and I want to include some quotes, but can't find the right ones. They don't all need to be about love. I really need ones for....

1. the girls getting ready
2. the guys getting ready
3. bouquet toss
4. garter toss
5. the guests and us dancing
6. and some lovey dovey quotes

I like ones like
Ooh La la for the garter toss...

for the people getting ready...
gorgeous groomsmen or beautiful bridesmaids
...I am very much a fan of alliteration when possible

But maybe go to a scrapbook store and look at the stickers for ideas.

I am making a scrapbook for my son. I am working on a family tree page. It would be awsome to make it a pop up page in my opinion. I thought a big tree pop up with the pictures under it. I just dont know how to go about doing it. I can't seem to find anything very helpful on the web. Thanks for all your serious responses.

Mommies: Besides raising your children... What is your passion (something you like to do)?

We all have one... maybe more. Something you love doing, regardless if you get much time to do it... We all still are individuals and have other loves and intrests besides our families, whether it be reading, painting, flea marketing, scrapbooking... ect.

What do you love doing?

Myself: I just love decorating my home. I thrive on having a comfy spot for my family and friends to relax in and always have my mind open to new ideas using old things. Mason jar soap dispensers, antique kids chairs for my little guys... old boxes for storage... antique dresser repurposed as my bathroom sink... on and on... lol

And you?
Oh... and I LOVE boating. Don't get to do it much, but I just love it!

1.Devoting my time to my religion
2.My family (i.e. husband and future children)
3.Traveling
4.Writing (I'm an author).
